# John Jacob Jr.’s Wednesday NCBA Power Rankings

**By John Jacob Jr. | NCBA News**

The final stretch of the NCBA preseason produced exactly what the Power Rankings are designed for.

The official standings say one thing.

This week's results tell another story.

Easton finally faced Connor. Logan defeated #1 by four balls. Ari somehow defeated both of the top two players while losing to three others. And several players near the bottom produced major upsets.

These rankings evaluate **performance this week**, not overall rating.

## 1. Easton —

**Last Week: #1**
**This Week: 5–2**

Easton stays on top.

Five wins in seven matches is difficult to argue with, and one victory matters more than the others:

**Easton 6, Connor 5.**

After weeks of anticipation, #1 finally faced #2, and Easton won the first meeting.

He also defeated Logan 6–3, Kinsey 6–4, Crosby 6–4 and Amos 6–5.

It wasn't a perfect day.

Ari beat Easton 6–4, ending his seven-game winning streak.

Then Logan delivered an emphatic **6–2 upset**.

Still, five wins, a victory over Connor and an overall rating of 852 are enough to keep Easton at #1.

## 2. Logan —

**Last Week: #2**
**This Week: 2–2**

The record doesn't look spectacular.

The results do.

Logan defeated Daniel 6–4 and then produced perhaps the biggest result of the week:

**Logan 6, Easton 2.**

Ranked #8 against the league's #1 player, Logan didn't simply pull off an upset. He won decisively.

His losses came against Easton earlier in the session and Crosby in a major upset.

Logan's recent resurgence has now included victories over **Easton, Connor and Ari**.

Last season's championship runner-up is officially dangerous again.

## 3. Ari — NEW

**Last Week: Not Ranked**
**This Week: 2–3**

How can a player with a losing weekly record rank third?

Beat #1 and #2.

Ari defeated **Easton 6–4**.

Then he defeated **Connor 6–4**.

Those are arguably the two highest-quality wins any player produced this week.

The problem is everything else.

Ari also lost to Seth, Houston and Amos, leaving him at 2–3 for the session and #13 in the official standings.

No player better demonstrates the difference between official rankings and Power Rankings.

Ari isn't consistent.

But this week proved once again that he can beat anyone.

## 4. Crosby — NEW

**Last Week: Not Ranked**
**This Week: 3–1**

Crosby has gone from the 0-point floor to the Power Rankings.

That's quite a turnaround.

His biggest result came against Logan.

Ranked #17 against #5, Crosby defeated him **6–4**, collecting a huge upset bonus.

He also defeated William twice, including a convincing 6–2 victory.

Crosby's only loss came against William.

After spending much of preseason near the bottom, Crosby finally produced the kind of session that demands attention.

## 5. Dravon — NEW

**Last Week: Not Ranked**
**This Week: 2–1**

Dravon quietly put together a solid session.

He defeated Seth twice, including a tiebreak victory while ranked below him.

His only loss came in a shocking 6–2 upset against William.

That defeat prevents Dravon from climbing higher, but a winning session earns him the final spot.

## Dropped From Last Week

### Connor — Last Week: #3

Connor falls out for the first time despite remaining #2 in the official standings.

He played two major matches Wednesday.

He lost both.

Easton defeated him 6–5 in the long-awaited Match of the Week, and Ari followed with a 6–4 victory.

Connor remains one of the strongest players in the NCBA.

But Power Rankings measure **this week**, and an 0–2 week isn't enough.

### Triston — Last Week: #4

Triston didn't play in Wednesday's latest session.

There was therefore no weekly performance strong enough to keep him in the Top 5.

His #3 official ranking remains unchanged.

### Daniel — Last Week: #5

Daniel falls out after losing 6–4 to Logan.

With only one match this week and no victory, there wasn't enough to defend his place.

## This Week's Top 5

**1. Easton —**
**2. Logan —**
**3. Ari — NEW**
**4. Crosby — NEW**
**5. Dravon — NEW**

**Dropped: Connor (#3), Triston (#4), Daniel (#5)**

This may be the strangest Power Rankings yet.

The official #2 isn't on the list.

The official #13 is third.

A player who recently had zero points is fourth.

And the #1 player remains first despite losing twice.

That's exactly why these aren't the standings.

They're the Power Rankings.
