# Miracle on Carpet Returns as Logan Surges to #2 and Triston Is Suspended
**By Andy Randy | NCBA News**
Wednesday produced one of the strangest days of the NCBA season.
Samuel brought the **“Miracles on Carpet”** back in spectacular fashion, Logan exploded into the #2 ranking, William stunned #1 Easton, Crosby upset the reigning tournament champion, and Triston was suspended for the remainder of the afternoon following repeated unsafe throws.
By the end of play, the NCBA standings looked very different.
## The Miracle on Carpet Returns
Samuel has spent much of this season at the bottom of the standings.
Wednesday reminded everyone why counting him out can still be dangerous.
Facing Logan, Samuel fell behind **6–1**.
Logan needed only one more ball.
Samuel needed five.
Somehow, Samuel came back.
One by one, he erased the deficit and ultimately completed a stunning **6–5 victory**.
It was exactly the type of performance that earned Samuel the nickname **“Miracles on Carpet”** last season.
The circumstances made it even more unlikely.
Samuel entered the match ranked #18 while Logan was #4, giving Samuel a massive upset bonus and **66 rating points** for the victory.
Samuel still sits at the 0-point floor after later losses, but the result itself will likely be remembered far longer than his position in the standings.
The Miracles on Carpet are officially back.
## Logan Responds With Five Straight Wins
Most players would have struggled to recover from blowing a 6–1 lead against the league's comeback specialist.
Logan responded by winning everything else.
After the Samuel loss, Logan defeated **Connor 6–2**, Triston 6–3, William 6–3, Noah 6–4 and Dravon 6–2.
Five straight victories.
The Connor result was particularly significant. Logan entered ranked #9 against the #2 player and dominated 6–2, earning 62 rating points.
Logan now stands at **18–13 with 512 points and a +32 ball differential**.
He has climbed all the way to **#2**.
Earlier in preseason, Logan had fallen near the bottom of the standings.
Now last season's NCBA Championship runner-up is once again one of the highest-ranked players in the league.
## Triston Suspended for Remainder of Afternoon
The day's biggest off-table story involved reigning Bed Co. Opening Day Tournament champion **Triston**.
During a match between Triston and Logan, both players repeatedly sent the white ball off the table, with throws striking people nearby.
NCBA President Easton issued both players a warning: **if the white ball came off the table and struck someone again, the responsible player would be suspended.**
Logan kept the ball under control following the warning.
Later in the match, with Triston close to defeat, another throw left the table and struck Easton.
The previously announced penalty was enforced.
Triston was **suspended for the remainder of Wednesday's NCBA session**.
His suspension expires Monday morning, meaning he will be eligible to compete at the next scheduled session.
## Triston protests
What happened immediately afterward was considerably more interesting.
After being told he was suspended, Triston chased Easton around for several minutes.
The incident was not considered an actual attack and was not part of the official reason for Triston's suspension.
It did, however, result in Logan, Samuel and Connor stepping in as the NCBA President's temporary **bodyguards.**
The unusual added another chapter to an morning that already had no shortage of them.
## William Stuns #1
Easton entered Wednesday with more than 1,000 rating points and a massive lead atop the standings.
Then #16 William stepped up.
William defeated Easton **6–5**.
Because of the enormous ranking gap, William received a **+16 upset bonus** and gained 67 rating points.
It was one of the largest ranking upsets of the season.
Easton recovered by defeating Samuel 6–4 and Dravon 6–5 in his next two matches.
He remains comfortably #1 at **1,074 points**.
## Crosby Knocks Off the Tournament Champion
Triston's afternoon was difficult even before the suspension.
Ranked #15, Crosby defeated the #3-ranked Bed Co. champion **6–4**.
The upset earned Crosby 65 rating points.
Combined with Crosby's late-preseason improvement, the result is another indication that his early struggles may be behind him.
Crosby now sits at **129 points**.
## Houston Beats Connor
Houston's small sample size continues to produce impressive results.
After previously pushing Easton to a tiebreak and defeating Ari, Houston added another major name to his résumé.
He defeated **#2 Connor 6–5**.
Houston is now **3–1 with 317 points**, enough to move him into fourth place.
Four matches still aren't enough to know exactly how good Houston is.
But three wins against this level of competition are becoming difficult to ignore.
## Connor Falls to Third
Connor had a difficult afternoon.
He lost 6–5 to Houston and then suffered a decisive **6–2 defeat against Logan**.
His 6–5 victory over Seth prevented a winless session.
Still, Logan's surge pushed Connor down to **#3 with 482 points**.
After spending most of preseason and early regular-season play as Easton's closest challenger, Connor now has another player between himself and #1.
## A New-Look Top Five
The latest standings begin:
**1. Easton — 1,074 (25–8)**
**2. Logan — 512 (18–13)**
**3. Connor — 482 (16–10)**
**4. Houston — 317 (3–1)**
**5. Avery — 306 (2–0)**
Triston, fresh off winning The Bed Co. Opening Day Tournament, has fallen to #6 after two losses and a shortened afternoon.
Samuel remains last at zero points.
Yet Samuel also produced perhaps the most memorable result of the day.
That's the NCBA.
The #1 player can lose to #16.
A player at zero can come back from 6–1 against #4.
A tournament champion can lose to #15 and be suspended later that afternoon.
And a player who spent part of preseason near the bottom can suddenly become #2.
Wednesday had almost everything.
