The NCBA returned on Wednesday, October 14, with 11 matches, seven upsets, and three tiebreaks. At the center of it all was a player who began the day ranked #17.
Kinsey defeated five consecutive higher-ranked opponents, climbed as high as #3, and finished the session with the biggest rating gain of any player. William A. eventually stopped the run, while Easton P. and Ari K. each posted winning records.
Kinsey’s first result immediately caught attention: a 6–3 victory over #3 Connor L., worth 68 rating points.
Then came the league’s #1 player.
Easton P. took Kinsey to a tiebreak, but Kinsey prevailed, adding another 64 points and a victory over the standings leader. It was the second win in a run that kept growing.
Kinsey next defeated Ari K. in another tiebreak, edged Logan M. 6–5, and beat Avery in a third tiebreak.
Five matches. Five victories. Five upsets.
The winning streak carried Kinsey from #17 to #3 entering the final match of the day, where William A. was waiting.
William A., ranked #16 at the time, delivered a 6–4 victory to end the streak and collect 66 rating points. The result lifted William A. to #14 with 142 points and a 9–14 record.
For Kinsey, the defeat brought an extraordinary session to a close. Even after losing 66 points in the finale, Kinsey finished 5–1 with a net gain of 236 points, ending the day at #6 with 286 points and a winning overall record of 7–6.
Easton P. had a productive return of his own.
The NCBA president opened with a 6–4 victory over Crosby C., lost the tiebreak against Kinsey, and responded by defeating #2 Logan M. 6–5.
That 2–1 session added 39 rating points. Easton P. remains firmly at #1 with 1,332 points, a 33–11 record, and a league-leading +48 ball differential.
Ari K. also finished 2–1, defeating Amos 6–4 and Logan M. 6–3 before losing to Kinsey in a tiebreak. Ari K. ends the day at #4 with 311 points, just six behind Houston.
For Logan M., the return began strongly but became more difficult.
A 6–1 win over Triston T. produced the day’s largest winning margin. However, losses to Ari K., Easton P., and Kinsey followed. Logan M. finished 1–3, losing 110 rating points while retaining #2.
Connor L. finishes at #5 following the loss to Kinsey. Triston T., meanwhile, falls below .500 at 17–18 and sits #10 after a fourth consecutive defeat.
